ATTENDANCE

We require a minimum of 9 hours a week be attended, so that your child can receive the true benefits of our programme. Start time for morning sessions or full days is up until 9.30 am and 1.30pm for afternoon sessions. You are expected to attend for your booked times. Please ensure that the booked times are correct when you enrol as you will be charged for your booked times. Any attendance outside these times will be charged as extra. Parents are welcome to ring and see if casual spaces are available if required.

While we are flexible in our approach to meeting your needs we do require stability of enrolment. You are welcome to discuss your roster needs with us.

ABSENCES

Please notify Preschool as soon as possible if your child is going to be absent. There are pink absent forms for you to complete if you know in advance that your child is going to be absent.

To maintain child continuity and consistent staffing levels, we offer 5 weeks pro-rata absent days, after this you will be charged 50% of your booked times. If you fail to inform us of your child's absence, either in advance or on the day, your full booked time will be charged.

20 HOURS ECE

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

All 3 & 4 year olds are entitled to 20 Hours ECE at Gladstone Preschool. The government provided funding to cover the basic cost of providing up to six hours per day, a total of twenty hours per week to all 3 & 4 year olds. Whilst the government provides funding to cover the basic cost of providing 20hrs ECE, Gladstone Preschool exceed in many areas, the minimum standards of education and care as outlined in the Early Childhood Regulations. These areas include/span>

  • Increased staff ratios - the government ratio for children 2 years and over is 1 adult to 10 children, we have a 1 to 7 ratio,
  • Excursions into the community.
  • Additional resources for extra activities such as Polyfest and 4 year old mat.
  • Providing morning and afternoon teas - we have a healthy food philosophy that entails providing healthy, nutritious snacks to all children.

To support these above minimum standards parents have the option to pay an optional charge for Quality Education of $1.50 per hour for each hour of the 20hrs ECE they receive or a termly donation.

WORK & INCOME SUBSIDY

There is an income assessed subsidy for childcare available through Work & Income NZ. Please contact Work & Income for details. Subsidies are paid directly to the centre and deducted from your invoice.

To cover administration costs involved with processing of subsidies, an hourly absentee fee of the equivalent hourly subsidy will be charged if your child is absent.
